The ski slopes may have recently closed at Virginia’s Massanutten Resort for the 2023-2024 winter season, but the fun never really stops at the four-season resort, which offers a range of year-round activities such as golf and an indoor WaterPark. Earlier this month, the resort unveiled details on the first phase of a multi-year master plan that will see Massanutten further enhance its year-round offerings, adding a new hotel and WaterPark expansion.
Slated to be completed by early 2026, the newly built hotel will include 144 rooms in a range of family-friendly options including king, double queen, and king bunk rooms, in addition to two- and three-bedroom suites. The hotel will connect directly to a newly expanded WaterPark via a 6,500-square-foot atrium that will feature cascading waterfalls, glass walls with views into the Indoor WaterPark, and handicap accessible paths.
The existing Indoor WaterPark will expand in two different directions. A 6,000-square-foot expansion will connect to the new hotel, while the opposite side will expand to include an additional 22,000-square feet. New attractions will include a three-lane, headfirst mat racing slide, and a family raft ride with one-of-a-kind light, sound, and design features replicated a Cosmic Slide experience. An enhanced kiddie area with pools and slides will be added, along with a large wave pool. An adult pool, cabanas, and a dining terrace will round out the expansion.
“A tranformative Master Plan is underway, which will take our current offerings to the next level and redefine the guest experience at Massanutten Resort,” explained Steve Krohn, president and chief operating officer of the Resorts Companies, which operates the resort.
The resort will be adding an additional 300 parking spots to support the expansion.
