Shay's & Cupp
October 21, 2002
I thought I read somewhere that Shay's Revenge and/or Cupp Run are more than 50-60 degrees. Is this true and what is the slope of these runs?
I'd say Lower shay's is close to maybe 80, it gets pretty steep! But Cupp is probably about 50 or 60
Lower Shays is a 55% grade. Certainly nowhere NEAR a 50 degree pitch - more like 38-40 degrees max.
It is 55% grade. See the following article:

For the difference between pitch and grade, see JimK's explanation on this forum strand:

Hey guys! the articles clear things up a lot! On 10/18, snowshoe has a hint of new snow. don't look at their website though, its not there! I got it from my inside sources!
Yes Indeedy! A friend at Snowshoe sent me pics of the snow on the 18th.
Its real! ... and, looking at the pics, they already have their snow guns out and positioned.
We are hoping for an early season blizzard!
yep, the guns are out! If you could, could you pass on the snow pics to me? I'd appreciate it! ski_guy_59@yahoo.com
Thanks! Jarrett
can you send the pics to me as well (chad@hansens.org)? i will post them on my webserver.
