Opening Day
December 18, 2004
RoundTop's website says they're opening this Friday at 9am. So far neither Whitetail or Liberty have posted a date, but I've got to believe they'll follow suit.
RT says minuteman, and 'down' from there... might be worth 1 hr drive and 4 hrs of season warm up skiing.
"Minuteman, Fife & Drum, Fanny Hill and the Discovery Area. The Incubator Park will be open!"
Liberty now predicts Saturday opening. Trails to include the usual opening suspects (beginner area, dipsy) and heavenly on the backside.
Do you think roundtop whitetail will be too crowded on saturday? Im thinking rt might be worth the extra 30min drive
I'd be surprised if either is 'crowded'.
Will mostly be just the pass holders and hardcores.
Wknd before Christmas, folks round here have better things to do than ski....
Local crowds won't show until after the holidaze, when the group trips start.
I don't know. alot of people are really excited to get out and get on snow. my guess is that combined with a discount ticket will make the evenings crowded but the mornings should be pretty light.
Actually, the holiday week is typically the busiest of the season for the local areas. That is from December 25th through New Year's. Most people want to try their new Christmas gear gifts out on the slopes. Liberty will be open on Christmas from noon to 10pm. I'll be there in the morning. Hope to see folks out there!
Thanks for the input. I cant wait to get out on the slopes.
(i decide roundtop will be the better choice)
RoundTop is always less crowded than Whitetail. I make the extra drive every Sunday, at least
Most people I've spoken to are too crazed with Christmas shopping to think about skiing this weekend. I agree that most people who go this weekend will be the hard-core faithful--season pass holders, and other snow junkies.
Obviously most people have their priorities totally out of wack! We have waited so long this season for the conditions to improve that skiing has priority ... anyway, shopping xmas eve is a challenge ... less goods but cheaper prices!
