Laurel Mountain Opened Today (12/21)
December 21, 2004
Yes, happy days are here again! It's certainly better late than never, and looks like management's got quite a bit ready for opening day terrain- more than nearby Hidden Valley and at least as much as Blue Knob already. Better yet, this place has really got decent rates this year- you'll never pay more than $35 for a ticket. Lastly, I have to put in a good word for Broadway and Wildcat, the two main top-to-bottom slopes open now. Broadway makes a great intermediate run with its varying sometimes narrow terrain and a steady pitch down about 800 vert. Wildcat is truly the most wicked run open in the mid atlantic now, with a fairly wide upper section thats not horribly different from some of 7 Springs toughest stuff, a mid fairly flat spot (which is of course where u can hop on last chance trail), and a disturbingly steep lower section that can come bumped and iced and powdered all on the same day, and likely deserves a bronze medal for the toughest conventional slope in the region. All 900 vert of Wildcat should be kept in good shape this year, so if you're in the mid-atlantic, you've got to check that and the rest of this great little resort out.
