I am here in VT with my daughter's family. We had all hoped for a great day at Sugarbush on the 24th, when the mountain was celebrating it's 50 something anniversary by selling lift tickets for the same price as on the original opening day - $5.50. While it was snowing in places like Louisiana and San Antonio on the 23rd it rained cats and dogs with temp. 55 degrees here on the 23rd. Still above 50 at midnight. Next morning it was in the teens and dropping; a classic VT rain/freeze cycle. We met 10 friends from the SkiVT-List at Sugarbush South for a planned group get together. The crowd was 1/3 of the expected but those who turned out were rewarded by a day of high speed carving on groomers with modest crowds. The group energy rose higher and higher until days end as all eyes scoped out possibilities for the final run obligatory trail poach, a SkiVT-L tradition. Here are reports; in this one that is son-in-law Jim in the lead and 7 yr. old grandson Conor and the rest of the posse in pursuit.
