New Confirmed Land Sales for Almost Heaven
January 14, 2005
A friend was in the Randolph County Courthouse in Elkins on Tuesday and checked the "Grantee" binders for any recent purchases made by Bill Bright under the name of Almost Heaven Mountain Resort LLC. There are two:
2004. Reginald Cooper. 333 acres. Book 550, Page 108
2005. Haymond, LLC. 14.30 acres. Book 500, Page 580
This is public information and anyone is welcomed to view the information in the Randolph County Courthouse.
Just doin some light reading eh?
John's great at keeping us all in the loop...Thanks..
Now the question is does Bright have the resources to put in a good snowmaking system and better facilities than Tline?
John:
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Does this represent Bright's initial land purchase there, or is it in addition to land he may have purchased earlier?
My friend is tracking his purchases parcel by parcel and putting together a rough map of where the new area will be. I'll ask that person for a rundown of all the sales, and see if I can post the information, which is public domain information.
I do know that the major parcel--Jack Teter's property--still has not been sold. Rumor has it that he wants to be the last person in the area to sell.
Whether people agree or disagree with idea of a new resort in this region, it looks like things are starting to happen. The new resort could forever change the face of skiing in the Mid-Atlantic. We might finally get a well-managed, big vert resort withing a four hour drive...
Thanks John! It will be interesting to see your friend's map, or hear about it anyway. I'm curious as to where the other two sites are that have been mentioned that he's potentially looking at; perhaps this map will help illuminate that. Please keep us posted!
That's the map and I know Jonathan but he's not the person making regular research trips to the courthourse.
Also, The only other property sale recorded in the Randolph County Courthouse under the name "Almost Heaven Mountain Resort LLC" is the 248-acre Gladys and Albert Property that Bright purchased in October 2003 for $532,000.
That high mtn dev shown on the map was my 1st choice when looking for prop in the area a few years back....talking to some owners up there & hearing thier tales of 70 below windchill's & 18 foot snow drifts made me decide to buy at the bottom! If there were a place to build a village for Almost Heaven that would be the place...not at the top like Snowshoe but just to the side of the peak.(bieng that there will be restrictions on & around MPC)The views are awesome from the high mtn area from the top of MPC on around to brierpatch mtn & even job knob & the much talked about Tory mtn ski area....Please Mr.Teter save yourself a multi million doller slopeside home, sell the rest of the prop & help your state see its true potential in the ski Industry.
