Dawn & I are heading to Steamboat from 2/7-2/14/04. We need some suggestions for lodging. We are considering both slope-side condo and in-town hotel accomodations. I have heard about Rabbit Ears Motel but nothing else. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks!
Mike

I also favor the Rabbit Ears Motel:

but did stay once at Storm Meadows. I don't remember a single thing about it, but I certainly remember the motel.

Thanks for the links. Have you been to the hot springs across the street? What're they like? And do you know if the Rabbit Ears (or anyone else) sells discounted tickets?
Thanks! Mike
a) ...don't I wish ... (but it is what I do for a living)
b) No, I've never gone across the street to the springs, although I should. My routine on ski trips is very simple and monotonous:
eat, ski, smile, shower, eat, sleep;
eat, ski, smile, shower, eat, sleep;
eat, ski, smile, shower, eat, sleep;
eat, ski, smile, shower, eat, sleep;
etc.
c) I don't know about discounted tickets, but one of the Yahoo discussion groups is "steamboat-friends", and I think I have seen some discussion of discounted tickets over there:

(you will probably have to regester to get access).
Cheers,

Bad thing - not within walking distance of anything. I'd recommend having a car except if you are going to stay slope-side.
Rabbit ears is right on the edge of town (could be walking distance to town - can't recall).
Enjoy. SBS is like no skiing in the mid-atlantic.
Also, the drive is long. try to arrive by nightfall.
We had friends stay at the Rabbit Ear that week. The place was clean and the staff very friendly. It is in walking distance of most anything you'd want to do in town, including the hot springs. (Strawberry Springs is a drive away but is a lot more scenic, esp. with the nudity after 9pm, even though I really wish I hadn't seen some of it).
No word on discount tickets.
