Keep those ski vacation reports coming...
February 14, 2000
Enjoyed recent articles on Colorado by Scott and Jonathan. Hope other readers will report on their big ski vacation trips. I've skied at both Winter Park and Snowmass (slept in car at Snowmass parking lot on late '70s hardcore trip). Both areas are a treat for those accustomed to mid-Atlantic skiing. Snowmass is a bit more renowned and part of unbeatable, but expensive cluster of areas near Aspen. Skied Snowmass in '91 with 30" of snow in 30 hours and it wasn't feather light powder...most wipeouts and hardest work I'd done on a mtn in many moons, but great memory. If ever return will definitely look for Jonathan's "Long Shot". I enjoyed an adventurous dark blue trail like that at Cannon Mtn, NH in '95. It required a short climb and went thru an abandoned ski area (Mittersill) before circling back to Cannon base. Living vicariously thru others big trip reports may have to do for me this season.
