Wintergreen
February 5, 2001
Went to Wintergreen Resort this past Friday (2/2) and found conditions to be quite good considering the last few years. All trails and lifts were open and running, and lift lines were tolerable. Snow was typical Wintergreen, frozen granular, but without too much ice. Better snow was found at the edges of all runs as the crowds tend to ski the middle with the resultant piles of scraped off crud. The only drawback is the day skiing lodge: absolute chaos trying to get lockers, change and get to the slopes. This is one area that needs serious improvement if Wintergreen is goint to continue catering to day Bus trips (twenty on this day). All in all a good day on the slopes with everything open. Even got a light dusting of snow in the late afternoon. So for you DC Ski area skiiers wintergreen is a good choice for a day trip. Have fun
