Anybody know? I looked at a topo map based on the ski lifts but it seemed less than it should be.

Snowshoe in a way "cons" you on the vertical. Cupp and Shay's are a good 1500 feet. That is correct... but the rest of the resort is not.

The basin side is around 1000 or so I think, and Silver Creek is much less.

We are going out to SS again Jan 8. I'll take our little Garmin Vista we use for biking and track the altitude on the Basin side, Western Territories and Silver Creek. That should give a fairly accurate answer to the actual verts.

If you look at Showshoe's web site they tell you that the cup side is 1500 vert. and the basin side is only 800 vert.

1. The industry standard is to report the highest lift served vertical and use that as their number. Hence, Snowshoe reports 1,500--the vertical of the Western Territory. If you look at the vertical rise of most trails in VT, most only cover a little more than 1,000 feet of vertical. Only a handful of mountains like Stowe have multiple trails covering over 2,000 feet of vert. In any event, it's not just about vert., skiable acreage, snowmaking capacity, and uphill transportation are just as important if not more.
2. Skidder trail or top of Ballhooter trail is at 4800 feet and Shavers
Lake is at 4000 feet, hence 800 vertical.
3. Silver Creek is about 650 vertical.
