The elite of DCSki were represented at this show:

L-R:  SCWVA, The Colonel, Bousquet19, JimK

Small show, but some quality places represented both local and from New England and the West.  Several ski clubs had tables too.  Free food, cash bar.  Bousquet19 won free tickets to Sunday River.  The Colonel won three days and two nights in Lake Placid!  Enjoyed seeing these guys, but hope next time is when we're all wearing ski goggles!

Glad to meet up with JimK and finally meet the characters behind the SCWVA and The Colonel monikers last night.  Good time.  Thanks for posting the photo, JimK.

As the Washington DC Ski and Snowboard Expo faded out several years ago, the event took something of a (deserved) beating in this forum.  I'm glad to see it getting revived, though.  If yesterday's edition was any indication, they seem to be on the right track.  As JimK said, it was a small event ... maybe 15-20 tables total.  No Warren Miller or Meatheads movie (sure miss Meatheads), no spin-the-wheel-to-get-a-free-ticket, no 2-for-1 giveaways.  But the event was free, the veggies and snacks were free, and the location was a good one.  Fun to see all the ski club trips and events that are scheduled.

'Should be no reason why the DCSki area can't support a promotional event like this one -- but grown to a larger scale -- each fall.

I also attended after seeing the last minute notice on DC SKI.  I was also pleased.  I love collecting hardcopy stuff to read.  Very low key event.  I did talk to to gents who helped set it up.  Blue Ridge Ski Council and a gent from the Pentagon club.  They asked me what I would have liked to see.  I suggested equipment and the movie!  I told them that I was surprised it wasn't publiscized more.  They also asked me about my ski habits (show was geared to publisizing club trips).  I am a ski with friends person, but have thought about group trips.  Have not pulled the trigger on that.  Happy to hear your thougthts about joining a club trip as a non club member.

Post your comments on what you would want cuz they said they would look at DC Ski.  Hope to see you on the slopes.  Blue and White Northface jacket and a Rome Board!!

Wojo, sorry we didn't introduce ourselves to you since we were probably rubbing shoulders all evening.  I agree with Woody that showing any sort of ski flick on just a large screen TV in a corner of the room would have been good entertainment for folks after they'd made the rounds to each display table.  The raffle was a good hook and they handed out a lot of prizes.

Good reading.  One of my favorite quotes provided is this one, which captures much of my interest in attending a ski show:

I often equate the shows with a high school pep rally before the big football game. It’s a great boost for our sales and marketing team to meet with skiers and riders who adore us and it’s fun to mirror their enthusiasm in hopes of driving more business to the region and [our resort] specifically.
