I know that this isn't on the east coast, but I could use some advice for me and possibly reassurance for my daughter. My family is going to Breckenridge, CO. this month, and I want to take my 11 year old daughter up Peak Six to Bliss, which is a blue.  She can ski blues well, but she hasn't skied a black yet, but my I really think she is ready to ski the blue trail that is above the tree line.  She isn't sure she's ready and I was wondering if any of you have been to Breckenridge and skied Bliss and could tell me how difficult it is.  I do think she's ready, but I've never been up Peak Six, so I have no idea what to think of those trails. Thanks for any input you may have about the difficulty (steepness, terrain, average conditions, etc.) on that blue.

I would just work my way up to it. Confidence is key. I've only skied peak 6 a couple times. It always found it so crowded I would rather get higher on summit of 7/8 to avoid crowds. There are some easier blues on lower level of peak 7. If she handles those well peak 7 will probably be ok. When I last skied 6 it was mostly ungroomed and choppy, but not sure if that is norm or not. Also My view of easy and your Daughters may be two different things, but did not find peak 6 significantly harder then lower 7 except the snow was a little heavier to move through. But to an 11 year old that might be a big difference.

It's not that difficult. That being said the only issue is that grooming is kinda wonky in that trail but that's really the only thing. If it's to hard then go to the right and go through the gate it's almost flat there so anyone could do it.

Thanks for this, she says she will probably do it, and even though I have read some stuff online that says it's much more difficult than a regular blue, based on what you all have said, I think she can do it.  That being said, she's never skiied ungroomed terrain, so that might affect her descision.  Either way, thanks.

IIRC the run directly under the peak 6 kensho chair called reverie was groomed during some of the seven days I skied Breck last season.  You could check yourself while she waits at the snack bar at the base of the kensho chair.

Okay, hopefully it will be groomed when we are there, thanks.  That information cleared up some of the stuff I read online that lead me to believe that it was never groomed.
