I'll scold myself first.  It's snowing 6 - 12 inches this week in most of our local mountains and I'm pissing and moaning about crowds / ice at SS.  Many others are complaining about trail counts, bad roads, prices, etc ....

Holy smokes, take a look at your home resorts webcam and look at the fresh pow falling.

We should be posting about who's calling off tomorrow!  We (I) need a change of attitude.

Guess what?  It's Mid Atlantic skiing.  It's not perfect so deal with it.

Ballhooter is crowded - who cares - go to Silver Creek.

7S is icy - no kidding - it's been like that for decades.

TL is not fully open - tough crap - ski the open trails.

snow.bucks lost $$ on his SS condo - we get it - let it go - make a new investment and recoup your losses.

Let's all put on our big boy / big girl pants, get out there and be glad you do not live in the middle of Nebraska.

I was hoping this was a post about how awesome Steamboat is.  haha.

Anyway, I agree.  No need to hate on what is different.  I just wish I could get out there this week.

Planning to take Thursday and Friday off to use my Snowshoe partner benefits as I'm not sure we will have many more opportunities to enjoy fresh natural snow at the lower elevation resorts this season.

Blue Don.  Good post.  I got pulled into a TL rant, I should have resisted.

Best run I have had this year was The Drop at TL 2 weeks ago, ungroomed, with waist high briars and bare spots.  They may have actually been knee high, but I have a new fancy Marmot jacket Santa got me, so they seemed higher.  Skied out to Lindy Point for sunset.  Great day.

Poor Andygene has to drive from Cincinnati to ski anything decent.

We are all blessed to have so many choices--so close.

Guess my friends with kids who are only skiing during the holiday weekends this weekend have lucked out.  Perfect winter cold for MLK weekend and looks like much the same for Pres. Day weekend too.  Mnut is blowing snow all over today with temps in the 20s to get ready for the weekend.

This week the warm weather is in Utah. ;-)

I have perect North Slopes a half hour away.  It sports 400 feet of vert!  I hit it up about once a week, and I'm very thankful for it even if it only takes me 30 seconds to get down.  Trips to WV used to be very plentiful, but thanks to work, friends not having much free time, and family obligations I can make a max of twice a year now.  I really can't wait to have kids, and get them old enough to ski, so I can have family ski buddies and *crosses fingers* more time on the hill.

Until they get older and deep into sports (especially traveling teams) and other activities that cause major conflicts on weekends.

Great post!  I was lucky enough to take off Monday pm and drive to SS for 4-6"s yesterday and at least 10"s of powpow today...just got home from an awesome day.  Almost as good as Jonas.  Rope drops at 9am at SS and 12pm at SC.  No lines!!!  Midweek is a great time to go.

Back to work...tomorrow.  More snow to come next Monday but I can't take off work...unless something comes up like snow!

I stayed in the Mill Creek Motel for Jonas.  I need that potential storm to roll in and out quick.  I have a Wed AM flight to Denver from PIT.

So for tomorrow: Wisp, Seven Springs, Hidden Valley or Blue Knob?

I'd suggest BK.  It's half the price of the other 3.  Look into their 5 hr flex pass on line or on liftopia.  I thought it was under 40 bucks when I looked earlier.  Damn truck is in the shop or I'd be there.  My lil sis lives in Altoona and she said it's snowed for 3 days in a row up there.

Ah but I was going to use my Snowshoe season pass.  Wisp seems like it has the highest average temps of the four and rest of the month after this weekend isn't looking too cold in that area.

Timberline on Thursday - $35 lift ticket from liftopia. I actually had to work a bit harder to find uncut powder than I expected, but it was there at the cost of only minor dings to my skis. It was certainly cold - I needed to take a break after every 3 or 4 runs, which is something I have never done on a powder day.

Showed at Wisp to be informed today is a holiday!  That's news to me!  Apparently the same at 7S and HV so off to Blue Knob I go to attempt to salvage the day...

Whitetail was GREAT today...no lines, snowing all day, and some of the best conditions I have ever seen there. They also have the largest base I have seen there

Breckinridge on Thursday- nice cruisers but surprisingly boring terrain. Vail back bowls were also a snooze on Friday- nothing interesting and rather refrozen crud Dispensaries on Airport road ruled in the evening. Blackhawk casino on Saturday was good we won $750.  Did more shopping on 16th Street in Denver with winnings high recommend for euflora at 16th and Tremont  or 401 16th Street knowledgable staff and top shelf at $120 for a quarter ounce.

sounds like better skiing at the Lib!

Lib Sunday, same as Saturday (at least the wind-free backside)- almost empty on the backside, firm but not hard or rutted bumps, maybe Ultra was just starting to get scraped at 3:30.  Even White lightning was in good shape!  Still found untouched corduroy as we were leaving.  Best weekend of the season, by far.

Sarturday was great, so long as you weren't on the frontside- I felt sorry for anyone in lineup or lapping Dipsy with their kids!

Unfortunately for the mountain, the ski-up liftlines were definitely not what they needed.  And today's weax isn't eactly going to help them make thing up.

Actually in retrospect all things considered The Lib is really the best - so strange after all I've done. I miss Charley at the bar. And running bumps top to bottom on east wind on my 207s K2 TNCs all day in March. Knock back a few Jack Daniels doubles and have a smoke in the parking lot before heading back as the sun starts to set.

Man, that was good.

Blast Skiing local Friday Day Roundtop did the DEW, then stayed for Night NASTAR. Sunday At Liberty 9am nada on backside just stan, brian and I doing drills, did the DEW played some more in the bit of rain and 5 hours  of soft cruising snow. No lines or waits. Most of the people who play 3 times or less are done. Keep riding they only close due to lack of participation.
