I enjoy Whitetail on weekdays and weekday nights, but avoid it li,e the plague on weekends due to the crazy crowds. It seems that to ski Saturday that Whitetail is by far the best option with the amount of terrain open. I am wondering how busy it is on Saturday nights, having never been on a sat night... with the warm temps, do you think it will be completely skied out? Temps will be in 50's daytime and not below freezing at night, but know it will still firm up once the sun drops. What's the advice from everyone? Anyone ski there last Saturday night? Just thinking most people will get their fill in the day and Saturday night may be quite a bit less crowded.
Sat night should not be crowded but the conditions will likely be miserable after a warm day like that. Miserable.
I'd opt for getting there super early Sat am and leave when you get sick of the crowds.

I would agree with this, Whitetail is southern facing. I suspect Angel Drop and Fanciful have a good base, but being southern facing and 50 degrees saturday it will either be choppy slush or icy. If you go in the am I suspect they wont be too crowded given the weather. If you must go at night go to Liberty, the back side there holds up considerably better than Whitetail.
weekend night skiing at Whitetail is the pits...and mounds. The heavy volume of skier traffic on the limited terrain causes most of the runs to bump up, but not the fun kind of bumps with a pattern. The "firming up" typically creates a very cruddy moonscape with pushed off ice patches and other enexpected surface changes. Simply put, whitetail becomes icetail at night. Stay away unless you are skiing for free.
