The Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area will open Friday, Dec. 15 with 10 runs and trails, including the 1¼-mile long Timber Trail, Face and Valley Vista.

In addition, the Tube Park will be open with three lanes starting Friday. Tubing session times: 9am ”“ 11am; 11:30am ”“ 1:30pm and 2pm ”“ 4pm

Here is the link to the Trail Report, which we’ve just updated: https://www.canaanresort.com/trail-report/

There will be a good mix of top-to-bottom skiable terrain for advanced and beginning skiers alike. We expect to open the terrain park in the next couple of weeks.

Alliterative kudos to mountain manager Mike Chaney and his crew.

And don’t forget that the first 100 skiers on opening day skiers get a free lift ticket.

Thanks, Justin Harris, for this photo taken at mid-mountain and showing the tube park in the distance.

Dunno...im just a speculating spectator....they have been grooming out their piles of snow so that might be a reason...maybe we cant see where they are blowing right now.....I do know that Canaan Valley (both ski areas ) have always gotten lazy when it starts to snow up there...both areas are spoiled with snow and is why they have evolved at a snails pace compared to the snow starved areas that have learned to hustle to survive...sort of like our welfare system...feed somebody and they dont feel like working...dont feed the deer!

6 inches of freshies..still snowing at 9.30am...

The valley "resorts" like to wait until it is warm and rainy to make snow.  By the way it is cold and windy at Snowshoe and they get alot of snow and they are blowing like maniacs right now.
