A sure sign of the coming season is seeing resorts switch their default web site from summer to winter sports. I know folks up north have been feeling a chill in the air for some time now, but it is just beginning in Gainesville, Florida.
I was surfing a few sites tonight and am glad to see that Timberline will be adding a web cam to their site this year. It sounds like there might be multiple views, but the resort is not offering any more details. I can only hope it will be a cam of nice quality, such as the ones in the high country network of North Carolina. I think SkiBeech's cam is very nice and would be a good model for any system Timberline installs.
It will be nice to see live views from the mountain itself, not just the valley cam that the forest service offers. And, for all you Snowshoe fans, maybe this news will be a motivator for the resort to add their own network of webcams.
Daily pics are great, but seeing (live) is believing!
