Here is a note I sent SS tonight. Their COVID-19 slope crowding limitations seem to me to defy logic.  I am asking my fellow DCSkiers what have you heard about SS  rules to limit crowding on the slopes.
The letter to SS management:
“My son’s family (6 people) will be at the Shoe from 29 Dec - Jan 1. All have ridiculous passes.  Are they supposed to make slope reservations?  You have indicated “no”, yet you show some sold out days already.  How can you accurately keep slopes under Covid-19 limited availability numbers when you have no way of knowing in advance how many season pass holders might be at SS to ski on any given day?
Please advise.
Sincerely,”
When I hear back from them I’ll post the response here.  Meanwhile, please post what you think the rules are. Thank you,
The Colonel

Data... they have years of it, and at this point 2 weeks of covid era data.

The restrictions IMO are to make it so the lines remain at close to what they have been in previous years despite not filling the chairs, people are outside and they have added ghost lanes and enforcing masks. Not sure if this will help you feel any better, but my guess is their capacity is estimated and relying on historical data.

Enjoy the pow!  Yes cover your nose and hand sanitize.  Steamboat was great last week doing the same.  Wishing I was at SS this week.  Snow Dance!!!

Colonel - The rules are posted on their website.  COVID

I think Covid concerns are a personal decision.  Would I go hang out in a maskless bar in South Beach - hell no.  Would I go to Snowshoe on Friday, wearing my mask and keeping my distance from others - you betcha.
