4 Feet of snow and a closed access road. Is it just me or is that skiing nirvana?

Actually it's too much snow. The people in the Town of Alta have been under Interlodge restrictions since earlier in the week. Meaning no one was allowed to go outside for ANY REASON due to severe avalanche danger. Was only lifted for foot traffic only around 11am MT this morning. Still no cars allowed on the road. There are locals who just want to go home. There are multiple slides on the canyon road. Check out the related Twitter accounts for pictures of what UtahDOT is dealing with.

I am in the SLC suburbs as of Wed night, 2/17/21. Yes, too much snow. Access road to Alta/Bird was closed Tues, Wed, and half of Thurs. No skiing even for up-canyon lodgers until Thurs pm. Today the access road is open but I am waiting to see if traffic eases before trying to go up. Have parking res for Snowbird Sat and Sun. hopefully, I can get up there. Powder frenzy could make covid restrictions even trickier. I'll report back if I have any success.

i heard there was a big problem this morning at alta. only slow wildcat double chair was open and very crowded. collins chair had to be dug out at midstation, too much snow caused chairs to drag on snow there.

I got up to Snowbird today from about 2-430PM. My first lift served skiing of the season! It was good. I heard the place was mobbed in the morning. Somebody told me they started up the access road at 7 am and didn't start skiing until 11am. but not bad by the time we got there.

This is my son.

About a 5-10 min wait for little cloud lift at 315pm.

The willibere double stays open until 430 pm so I made a few late laps there until closing.

It felt good to do some downhill skiing! Hopefully a lot more in the upcoming weeks.

Today was a pretty special day at Snowbird, it snowed more than a foot yesterday and Vince and I got into terrain that had not been opened to the public in a couple weeks, so it skied much deeper than that. This is around Tiger Tail and Thunder Bowl towards the lookers right on the frontside of the mtn.
