Looks like we'll be making white flakes by Tuesday night! This is no gun test, guns are plugged in, hoses on and standby lights on, even a chance to hit the teens wed night. Here we go...baby (maybe).

Nothing advertised yet. I'd expect Tuques, Locker Room, Old Spruce Tavern & Hoots will all be hopping into the new year.

I know they moved the cafeteria and whatever else to the lower level of Mountain Lodge.
Is the old Shavers location just bare ground now?
Is there still fencing around it?
The webcam doesn't really show it.
Bare ground, no fence. Hopefully it's rebuilt next summer.

We ate at Tuques last night. They started grooming the whales around the top of the PM lift while we were there. AM snow report says IT WILL BE OPEN THIS WEEKEND.

Massanutten added conveyor loading quite a while ago. While beginners still mess up, the beginner chairs stop less than they did before.
Skied them today. Side to side coverage on both. A little icy with patches of powder. Sat had snow over to some brief rain that froze up a bit last night.
Snowed all day today. This afternoon it became very windy. 6PM still snowing.

Those exact words I said to my wife except I added we invited a few friends.
Even with a slow start to the ski season the Shoe continues to open more runs every couple days.
Hidden valley had a conveyor system. It didnt work well at all. They eventually stopped trying to use it the last I was there.

The Timberline cam didn't look too bad either, wonder how long the wait is there?

To Mongo: Yes, PM was a triple, now a quad; but not enough runout at the top to make it faster,
And they need this type of lift just in case things get icy and the high-speeds can't operate.
Parking is cash, and milk for kids and cereal is necessary in the am.
Yes, Powder Monkey was a triple, I guess the change to a fixed-grip quad gets an extra 1,000 skiers per hour up the mountain, and they didn't want to do a high-speed quad because if they have high winds or ice they want at least some of the lifts to not have to shut down. The prices at Wildcat have always been high, that's nothing new, I guess when your next option is a grocery store 90 minutes away they've got the market cornered, lol.

Regarding new trails off Cupp, we were told it fizzled out due to money and the endangered Cheat Mountain salamander.

egg - there now are 2 options (Par Mar & Dollar General) located 10min away at the base....near The Inn
So the cheat mountain salamander wasn’t an issue in the late 90s but it is now?
if they wanted to build new trails on the western side, I’m sure they would get it done. They just don’t want to spend the money. Replacing some of the original lifts on the basin side is probably a bigger priority.

Wildcat prices were always high but not THAT high. I didn't want to drive down to the Par Mar because the weather was terrible. I'd taken the bus to Wildcat and by the time I got there I wasn't going to go back and dig my car out. Had I but known about the $8 milk before I got on the bus I sure would have driven down the hill. Painful lesson learned!

On Saturday all of Lower's Shays was icy as hell. The bumps were pure ice and the groomed side had some snow with a lot of thin sheets of ice and no top coat. Would not be surprised if they pushed them out to get a fresh start. They started to let bumps form over on Knot Bumper. Cupp and Choker had some good "clumps" but this was from skiers and snowboarders pushing the snow around.

Things are looking even better this AM with NOAA now calling for 5-10". If the low developes off the Delmarva like the models are predicting we should be on the high end of the totals. Almost a perfect forecast for this President's weekend!

Yes! We are planning to be there all weekend. I can't believe they are blowing snow like crazy to save the remainder of the season.
The SHOE and Alterra deserve some big Kudos for this!!!!!!!

Cool. I will not know if I can go this weekend until the last minute so it would be nice to not pay the full window price....what is the full price these days? Hard to tell on the snowshoe site with the dynamic pricing.
How am I only learning about this place now? Tbf I don't get out to Snowshoe much
