If you are interested in off beat places look at
They have a database with a front end that allows you to filter and sort all the ski resorts in the world very efficiently. It's great for getting ideas of places to visit. I do only see one ski area for Mexico. Not sure if that is the one you are talking about. And the old Warren Miller ski movies always had the athletes visit at least one off beat place per movie. Not sure if they still do.
I've hear of Popocatepetl as a possibilty but know nothing of it. Meh - we've been going to Puerto Peñasco on the Sea of Cortés it somehow makes me totally forget about skiing.

I have heard that volcanic skiing is a thing in Mexico. I will be going to Mexico next month. I was thinking of giving it a try. Does anyone have any prior experience with volcanic skiing? Also, can you please give suggestions for other off-beat places? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, it looks like a possibility. There are a few ski resorts too. Btw, this Puerto Peñasco also looks like a less touristy place. I like those kinds of less-crowded places.

Great story. Thanks.
Thanks for the article you shared. Your friend can really make it look so easy. Btw, I have got a local to arrange the things for me from https://gowithguide.com/mexico/guides and help me find the resort too.

Wow, davwilley! Sounds cool 😎 to do a trip like this
Hiring a local guide seems like a very smart idea. You should be able to minimize the hassles with a knowledgeable guide, get to where you want to go, and make the most of your time while you're there. Hope you'll post some trip reports and pics.

If possible maybe you can find something at Puerta Privada condos in Puerto Peñasco - you won't find any outright rentals but I can hook you up with a couple that we've done home exchanges with and they can give you a flat rate for X number of days (two weeks would be about $1500). About 2 hours from the Arizona boarder, you can get a dedicated shuttle that will whisk you thru the boarder FAST (they treat the cops there well) and they even stop at a grocery store (recommend Super Ley make sure to have dollars or pesos on you) on the way in so you can stock up. The malecon has amazing resturants and sea food markets you can get a bag of just-caught stuff (grouper/prawns/scallops) for $20 that will make MANY dinners!
And the evening sky kills!
