Oftentimes I go with close friends who are into ski/board for the workout and we time our runs and lifts obsessively, then eat at the condo or find something fast before dropping on the bed.

However, sometimes the weekend turns into a relaxing time and we look for special places nearby Snowshoe. We've started going out of the resort lately mainly due to the drop in food service at the Shoe's Intrawest places, have had great service at the Elk River and a no-frills incredible breakfast at Elihu's by the intersection of 219 and 66 at the base of the mountain. Has anyone found out-of-the way places?

The restaurant down in Marlinton just accross the bridge on the river is very good and inexpensive - diner type. You should also check out the Brazen Head Inn towards Elkins on 219.
