A very low days year for me:

Of course, my kids have skiied about 12 days each (student season passes are great), and even my wife has me beat because she hit all the downhill above plus:

All of which adds up to about $1500 in lift tickets alone (including paying for friends of the kids several times.)

Hey if we're counting cross-country skiing then my total is up to 16 days this season, assuming I go to WT on Sat. 12 days downhill and 4 days X-C. No snowmobiling this winter though, unfortunately.

Has anyone in this metro region ever skied over 30 days? If so, I'd love to know how. Short of getting laid off in Dec., I don't know how anyone can hold down a day job in Washington or Baltimore and ski much more than 30 days in the season, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

We gotta' count XC - it's outside, on skis, on the snow, and unnerving as *^%$ when you get going fast downhill. Snowshoeing, I would think would count too. I don't know about the snowmobile thing though...sounds a bit, uh, passive.

13 days, all at Snowshoe. Hope to get in a few more before the end of the season. I figure that the $348 I spent on a season pass last May saved me at least $400.

This year there are 17 weekends between Dec 6 and Mar 28, inclusive. Throw in two weeks vacation and you get 40 days.

34 = 17 x 2
6 = 2 x 3 (for sanity, need to factor in travel days)

I'd be pretty burnt out with 17 straight weekends of skiing, but if I lived within 30 minutes of Alta or Sugarbush, I'd be singing a different song...

Back in my hard-core Dewey Beach days, I once went from mid-April to mid September (> 20 weeks) being home only one weekend. That was around six hours of driving each weekend. My body and car were never the same since.

Ok add 2 to mine for x-c skiing/snowshoeing & also helping out with some handicap kids one day...

So 22!

I used to ski 30 or 40 times a winter (not counting cross country skiing) when I was a kid living in Rome, New York. Does that count?

Snowmobiling isn't as passive as you might first think. It actually takes a bit of body work-- not nearly as demanding as skiing but you still get some exercise. I've only done it a couple times but rolling through a powdery field feels a lot like being out on a motorboat (cue Andy).

Sadly, just 8.

Boyne and Nubs were on the short list for this youth group trip. We opted for Caberfae and WOW! it was GREAT! Snow conditions were suitable and they have 485'of verticle. The hub and I agree that their greens and blues have been the most challenging for us so far.

WGO- no, haven't done Mt Bohemia. Was talking to a Yooper (someone from the U.P.) on the chair lift and he mentioned Mt Bohemia. Maybe when we get a little better at skiing.

Mt Bohemia is absolutely amazing... whoever owns that resort is doing work that is nothing short of impressive.

The mountain is a gem... but it is one LOOONNGGG drive from the Chicago area.

Thinking of capping off the season w/a Vermont road trip this weekend.

ive got plenty of days but wanting many more these next 2 weeks. ive taken two trips to utah one for 6 days and the other one for a week. plus one whopping day at the horrible sugar mtn ( only went bc it was opening day and they were teh only resort open in nc) plus tons and tons of days at app. way to many to count on hands feet i would say around 40 sessions at app. im gonna be there all next weekend and all the weekend after that. so ill top of the season with close to 60 days. and thats living 2 hours from the mtn one way. good thing i got a bro at app so i can stay up there on weekends and ride all weekend.

It is pretty easy to get 50+ days of riding providing you tell your boss that you are taking all Fridays off from opening day till closing. The WVa season typically last 16 weeks so just include a few holidays and a couple extra 4 day weekends and you are there. I've been snagging 50+ for the last 10 years and 30+ the 6 years before I really perfected "The Tour". You have to "want" to ride 50 days...especially when you live in the DC metro area. It helps if you have connections for a place to stay but I've started many seasons sleeping in the truck off Canaan Loop Rd in Canaan Heights until I got hooked up. I must admit that by the end of March I'm ready for a few weekends chilling at the homestead. I live in Burke and have the 169 mile doorstep to quad lift at Canaan drive down to 3:15 with 1 gas stop.

RoyBarb Mountain is a place in North Carolina where my buddy has a house. He got 2 feet of snow in December and we took the ATV wherever we could on the mountain and skied it.

With my Suunto S6, I measured the longest vertical at 760 feet. If we could have gotten the ATV to the top of the mountain, we would have had considerably more.

I've been putting this post off bcause i figured that the answer means my season is over.

30 days- 7 Springs 13, Timberline 13, one day each @ CV, Whitetail, Liberty and snowshoe.

Would a trip to Portillo Chile be this season or next season. I guess if I win the lottery we'll find out.

My total is now 70. I skied Mt. Sunapee Monday and Mt. Snow on Tues and Weds.

Jimmy I've always debated that myself. If you ski in the summer (including Blackcomb, Mt. Hood, Chile, Austalia, et al), at what point does the season end and begin? Unfortunately, I haven't won the lottery to be really faced with that question either.

After July 4th starts a new season?

How were conditions at MT Snow? We were there last March and had a blast.

14 days - mostly at Liberty and Whitetail... a weak season for me but with a 10 month old you gotta take it where you find it.

Jimmy, Mt Snow was good. I was especially impressed with their tree areas. Last week they got 20 or so inches and the trees still had some powder in them.

Moguls were dreadful. Powder on top and ice behind them. A deadly situation. Overall, I liked Mt Snow and I would go back.

Well since I recently returned from a backcountry ski trip in the Canadian Rockies (staying at the Campbell Icefields Chalet), I am ready to post my stats: 28 days of skiing, seven of them skiing backcountry in the Canadian Rockies, two days at Sunshine Resort in Alberta, two days at Whitetail, 8 days at Timberline, and the rest at Whitegrass Ski Touring Center. I would have skied alot more, but I also iceclimbed for 19 days (8 days in the Canadian Rockies, and the rest weekends in New Hampshire and Lake Placid, NY). So my total for skiing and iceclimbing (which is just as fun as skiing) is 47, pretty good considering I have a full time job in Washington, D.C.
