The terrain is more challenging than Liberty and less icy than Whitetail. Gunbarrell is an asskicker with moguls from hell and an incline that rivals Lower Shays at the Shoe. Upper Lafayette's Leap was also really nice. But I really really liked Barrett's Trail the best as it reminded me of an old narrow New England trail.
If you're looking for length of the trails, go to Whitetail. If you're looking for the nearest spot with some challenge, go Liberty. If you're looking for a cozy but really effective ski day, go Roundtop.

I prefer Whitetail (have to choose the right timing). The main reason is vertical. While Liberty and Roundtop have relatively decent pitches on their headwalls, they have maybe 200-250 foot vertical on the headwalls. That's maybe 5-7 GS turns or 20-25 bump turns if the bumps have formed (which is not always.) Try as I might to like Liberty or Roundtop, I get bored there very quickly.
At Whitetail, the bumps on Bold Decision and Exhibition can be good as any you can find at Liberty/Roundtop. Further, the pitch on the Bold Decision headwall is as steep (and as short) as those at Liberty/Roundtop. The key is to hit Whitetail when the moguls have formed. First of all, these trails are closed at night. Second, bumps normally don't form unless the weather gets warm enough. Third, Whitetail has a bad habit of grooming the bump trails too often, the percentage of days when there are reasonable bumps is too low in my opinion. When the moguls are good on Exhibition - as they were last Sunday - you get maybe 700 foot of pure moguls.
As for challenging icy conditions, you can find them at any local area, especially at night when the day was warm.
