This was the latest first snow on record for the valley....(1 inch plus)

Not me. But wow - latest snow since they started tracking in 2001. A whopping 1.7" (Better than rain!)
Canaan Valley's weather records date from 1944 and a survey of those data by Bob Leffler reveals the latest date there, until now, is Dec 2 in 1946 and again in 1985.
