Good to see the snow guns on this AM
Winners - They actually have functioning webcams for us snow lovers to see progress and visit their slopes
Losers - C'mon Man! It's almost 2018, get a functioning cam up so we can see what's happening.

Oops, I forgot them. But ....... no snow guns roaring ??????
They are on my short list this season. Never made it there last season. I want to go when all (or most) of their trails are open to get the real feel of the place
Massanutten will finally be able to start serious snowmaking this week. They just announced Dec. 15 as the Opening Day for day sessions only. Night skiing will start Dec. 22. Clearly want to be ablel to make as much snow as possible before the holiday week. With the new water source, really be interesting to see how much terrain is open by Christmas week.

Snow making begins tonight.
We finally have a cold stretch, excited to see what opens up. I'm dying to hit the trails.
I usually ski 5-8 days in Utah each year plus local days. Due to some family changes (more kids) my Utah trip might only be three days, with the remainder locally. I'm rooting for some good local terrain!
I'd love to finally ski Dream Highway and Lincoln Highway at Laurel this year. Beyond that some good turns at Snowshoe and Blue Knob are always appreciated. I purchased a slug of dates at Hidden Valley to go with the kids. It isn't challenging, but at least I'm out..
29 degrees at Massanutten this morning at 7:30am. Snow guns definitely blowing per usual on Southern Comfort and Diamond Jim. Probably Showtime too but that doesn't show on the webcams. But with more water and extended cold, snowmaking has also started on Geronimo and the tubing hill at the same time. Opening Day announced for Friday, Dec. 15, 2017.
Wintergreen snowmaking is full on too. They have two live streaming locations now for Eagles Swoop and from Checkerberry in multiple directions. Plus the "classic" static photo of Dobie. Winter is here!
Laurel Mountain Web Cam is looking like we will be soon be cruising Broadway.

WISP is finally making snow. I was up there yesterday afternoon and it looked like they had just started in the am. Hopefully, what ever the issue WISP is having at the bottom of Main St. is fixed soon so they can start making snow.

Wintergreen finally posted a blog entry about snowmaking. Opening the same day as Massanutten, Friday, Dec. 15.
Bryce hasn't picked an opening day yet.
There was snowmaking all day at Mnut, at least at the top. By mid-afternoon when temps dropped into the high 20s it looked like the guns were on over on Geronimo. Snowed most of the morning. The base is gonna be DEEP on opening day.
Just took a peak at the Laurel Mountain cam. Any idea why they've stopped making snow? According to the website, temps are plenty low enough.

www.skiwhitetail.com/webcams Nobody has mentioned Whitetail. Living only 20 minutes they have been able to the guns for Hoover 48 hours and counting. I wouldn't be surprised if they open on Wednesday if not sooner.www.skiwhitetail.com/webcams Darn auto spell. They have been making snow since Thursday night.
Liberty started snowmaking on Dec. 9. No opening date on website yet.

Roundtop announced today that Dec. 14 will be Opening Day.

I wonder why Laurel Mountain stopped making snow yesterday?
not stopped just over the hill and down the mountain, snowcat will soon spread the visible piles then more on top.
The Basin cam at snowshoe is truly an impressive sight right now.
Seems like the local Snowtimes will open up with more trails open on opening day than in any recent season. I bet it'll be hard for them all to wait for Friday to start getting $ in.
Kept hoping Laurel would've opened today just because they're light and agile compared to the rest of the company. Opening a season with nothing but laps on Wildcat would be a helluva test of any gym-work that may or may not have been happening.

Conditions this morning were FANTASTIC. For those of you looking at future trips, grabhammer was being groomed, snowmaking was starting on skipjack, upper and lower ballhooter, flume, hootenanny and cupp...I suspect there are others as well. But the trail count this Christmas (as well as the base) will be much better than the last 2 seasons.

Next round of daylight snowmaking has started in VA. Massanutten had snowguns at the base back on by 5pm this afternoon. Temps starting dropping around 3:00 and already down in the mid 20s. Going to be an amazing Opening Day!
Snowshoe and Mother Nature just continue to impress.
