Here's a nice view of the base complex at Seven Springs Ski Resort in western PA, taken by one of DCSki's finest forum hounds: shearer519.

After looking at these what I want to know is - have they fired up the guns yet at Seven Springs?

JimK, Best way to check on snowguns is to call 800-523-7777 for Dick Barrons daily snow report. I'll be calling every morning in about 30 days.

Yes...and if you really want moguls go to Snowshoe and ski the lower part of Shay's Revenge, a near 60 degree slope with Volkswagen size moguls, which can be ice mountains.
Or Extrovert at Blue Knob. both of the above slopes are lengthy runs, unlike Goosebumps at 7Springs.

I hope you guys enjoy these pictures because once the season comes around I will be taking many more. Last year was the first time I decided to try to document the places I ski. So I didn't take as many Pictures as I would of liked to. This coming season I plan on taking a lot more. I joined a new ski club that just started this year up at PSU. This will let me hit up mountains I have never been to before. I already know I will be going to Tremblant the first week of Jan. The also mentioned taking day trips out to the Poconos and other local areas I probably would never get a chance to ski otherwise. Then come spring break it looks like I will get to ski out west. The current talk is going to Steamboat. This is shaping up to be my greatest ski season of my life. Bring on the winter.

PS I just may have another resort saved up to share with you all shortly.

You can fantasize all you want about far away places, but there is nothing like the adrenalin shot you get thinking about the here and now almost within reach.

Speaking of Tremblant, has anyone been there? How long is the drive? I know they have a new villiage but what's the mountain like? Questions questions!

Not to be a nitpicker but...Shay's revenge has a *grade* of 60%, it's not a 60 degree slope. I believe a 60% grade works out to just over 30 degrees.

But I do agree, Lower Shays is a pretty sweet run!

I have been to Tremblant and was quite dissapointed. The faux French village is kind of interesting, but, I go to ski resorts to ski and the skiing just didn't measure up. They claim I think 90some trails but several change names from top to bottom. And the place gets crowded and I went during mid-week. There was a black diamond slope that I skied that was the most crowded diamond I have ever skied on. I was afraid to stop to take a breather for fear someone would crash into me. For the amount of real estate that they have adjacent to the hill, there are not enough trails to absorb all of these folks. It's not worth a 12 - 14 hour drive to get there. There are better places in Vermont and New Hampshire to ski. You may want to give Stratton a try, they have a nice (more modest) base village.

Here's thread I saw on another forum recently that has some frank discussion of Tremblant. Like Snowsmith, some like it, some don't. In January it's supposed to make Vermont feel balmy. I've never been.

thanks Jim, Snowsmith, I'd rather go to Vermont. Don't like crowds and I'm not that interested in the Faux French Village.
