I’ll start: I skied on 5 days, 2 at Arizona Snowbowl; 3 at Canaan Valley.
MorganB aka The Colonel
I never keep good counts, but around 3-4 times per week for 15 weeks(?)
I skied 6 new to me places this season.
Hoping to squeeze one more drivable day-trip out this weekend
2 days at Gore (NY), 2 at Snowshow, 1 at Winterplace. Would have gone to SS again last week to use the new Riduculous Pass but work intruded. Gotta go more next year.
11 - Snowshoe
3 - Big Sky, MT
2 - Laurel
1 - Hidden Valley
Not enough but I didn't count. Average about 3 days a week, perhaps more.
A whopping 41 days due in part to the partial government shutdown (thanks Nancy and Donald!):
Peak resorts: Whitetail 11, Liberty 1, Roundtop 3, Hunter 5, Attitash 1
Other local resorts: Snowshoe 1, Seven Springs 3, Hidden Valley 1, Canaan 1
New York: West Mountain 2 (great hidden gem near Glens Falls, with new lifts, new trails and new snowmaking, try it out!)
Southwest Colorado: 3 days backcountry skiing at Red Mountain Pass, 1 day at Telluride
Canadian Rockies: 7 days backcountry skiing at Mistaya Lodge, 1 day Norquay, 1 day Lake Louise
Cross Country: 3 days White Grass, 1 day Mt. Van Hovenberg (near Lake Placid).
I have now quit for the season, bicycle and rock climbing gear is out of the closet!
At least 25 days. I started skiing at the end of November and did my last trip on last Sunday. Thanks to Snowshoe's ridiculous pass.
Whitetail: 10+ days
Snowshoe: 10 days
Hunter: 4 days
Elk: 1 day
12 days total - 6 at Snowshoe, 1 at Crystal Mountain, 1 at Deer Valley, 4 at Alta.
Not a great year for me, in terms of ski days: 6 days total, 4 at Whitetail and 2 at Liberty. And each of those trips was only a couple of hours. The previous winter was definitely better.
Ski Days 2018-2019
For me, this is better than last year’s 13 days, but the demise of Timberline is really cutting into my numbers.
I had 9 days. 2 at Liberty, and 1 each at Whitetail, Seven Springs, Hunter, Attitash, Wildcat, Crotched, and Mount Snow.
Haven't decided if I'm done or not,... so far about 18 days in- VT: Bromley, Stratton, Pico, Mt. Snow; PA: Roundtop, Liberty, Whitetail, Laurel, Blue Knob; MD: Wisp; CO: Purgatory, Silverton, Wolf Creek.
I got 9 in. Would have been 10, but I was sick Monday when I was supposed to go to Brighton.
1 time to 7S on opening day.
1 time to WT on Christmas day.
2 times to Liberty.
4 times to Roundtop.
1 time at Solitude.
At least for me, having a season pass isn't all about value (though I certainly look for it). It's about prepaying for my skiing up front so I don't have money as an excuse not to go during the season.
Need to count, but not dead yet. 1-2 trips to come, so 4-8 more days. About 25 days so far, so miserable year for numbers.
But quality over quantity - 10 pow days so far. 10 of first 18 days I think. 2 at Magic, 1 at Soli, 2 at B Right On, 1 at JHMR, 4 at Big Sky.
I think my season is over. 285K vert, 17 days. Goodbye #snowtime, it's been nice knowing you.
2 Loveland
6 in the Dolomites :-)
1 at the 'Nutt (loved it)
8 at Whitetail (some were exceptional spring and one was 6 inches of fresh).
Okay, I’ll play. 12 days between mid Feb and mid March. On my way home now after 2 weeks in Barcelona and Madrid, a trip arranged months ago as consolation for ”˜not skiing’ after the knee replacements. The latter went very well and I bought the 19/20 IKON pass which will enable me to ski Squaw and Mammoth as long as they are open from April 8 until closing which both promise will be July. I should easily hit 30 days by then.
Let's see:
3 @ Liberty
3 @ Whitetail
1 @ Jack Frost
2 @ Lapland Lake
1@ Whitegrass
1 @ Blackwater Falls SP
1 on the C&O Canal towpath
and another 2 or 3 instances of noodling around the neighbourhood on xc skis with the kids.
So that's 7 resort days plus 5 XC ski days plus some bits and pieces. Not a great season really - February's snow drought really messed things up.
Just once -- hope to get out more next year at somewhere other than Whitetail. Massanutten, Blue Knob, Poconos all in contention, it's going to be about how much time and who I go with for the most part. The Peak fiasco isn't helping their cause.
14 days. Love them! My first full snowboard season! I am addicted! :)
2018-19 Season
22 Down hill Days 10XC days
401K of vertical
cost per day = 10.80
Love Love love the Epic pass......
5 Zermatt
5 Holiday Valley
4 Mammoth
2 Snowbird
1 Alta
1 Brighton
1 7 Springs
1 June
1 Holimont
21 days total... not nearly enough!
I can't exactly add it up, it's been a crazy season .. roughly 34
Here's what I know
2 Beech
2 Sugar
3 Wintergreen
1 Massanutten
1 Bryce (my first time there, I liked it)
1 Wisp (one of my best days in the SE this year)
3 Snowshoe
4 Canaan
1 Whitegrass (I'll do better next year)
NONE at Timberline --- Fred and Tracy there is a place for you, somewhere far subterranean of the valley, it's warm, you'll love it!
3 Loveland
3 Monarch
2 SkiCooper
1 Wolf Creek (on top of a near record base; 50 inches in 2 days, actually a little scary
3 Purgatory .. a lot of stories about tree wells past and present)
1 Plattekill NY
1 Jay Peak VT
1 Mont Sutton Quebec (first time, so great)
1 Burke (first time, also great, FAST)
It was a banner season for sure, less backcountry, but at times inbounds was almost too scary. I LOVED the small places, best trees all year for me were at Plattekill and Mont Sutton, good day at Whitegrass too.
--- Edit
Actually the best trees I guess were at Wolf Creek but it was so deep that it had a survival aspect; so epic, but not nearly as fun as some other days.
Kemperski, Really enjoyed your report about ski days!

PS: Looking forward to see JimK’s report!
Thanks MorganB, I had fun doing it
My goal was 9 to break even with my season pass at Whitetail. Only got there 7 times.
Next year I’m going to be a free agent and try to check out more regional resorts. 7S, Hidden Valley and Laurel Hill are on the list. Would like to check out BK but they never seem to be able to get there snow situarion figured out.
I had four days as of Presidents Day, got around 36 now and hopefully might get another 15-20 before I'm done. Most have been at Snowbird which could operate deep into the summer this year since they have received approx 630" of snow so far this winter. Yesterday was really nice up at Snowbird, they've had about 3' of snow this week, some of it a bit heavy, but it seemed dryer yesterday and the sun came out for about 4 hours. Caught a rope drop just as they opened Mineral Basin for the first time in a few days. There is a little less competition for the goods in April.
Skied in four states this winter: PA, CO, UT, and MT including 9 different ski areas total, so far. Made first ever visits to Crested Butte, Big Sky, and Telluride this winter, loved all three and all three were loaded with snow. Unlike my ski days back East which are generally full days, a lot of my ski days at Snowbird have been partial days because it's close to my accommodations where I am also busy doing a lot of home improvement projects. One mild day I went from the driveway in SLC suburbs to summit of Snowbird (Hidden Peak) in 40 minutes where I sat on the outdoor deck, elev 11K, and munched on a peanut butter sandwich I had just made before driving up. Since I began skiing out west (Feb 19) the storm days seem to outnumber the sunny days and spring has been late to arrive. I can count the full-on soft spring ski days on one hand. It's mostly been pretty wintry still except down in lower elevations where folks are often in t-shirts and shorts.
We visited Dead Horse Point State Park in southern Utah on the way back from Telluride/Crested Butte to SLC on Apr 8 and it was close to 70 degs:
Between the skiing and the home improvement stuff I've had bodily aches almost constantly, but I'm managing :-)

go Jim!
i’m at 16 now following 4 days at mammoth with friends from MD. Mammoth is awesome; think Squaw valley on steroids. I hear you about the bodily aches.
JimK and all others who are still partaking of the 2018-19 season... Congrats, and y'all keep on getting it! Make turns for us all.
I have two scratch-off tickets I have taped to my skis, and if they work out I will still make it to the beach (A-Basin) before season's official end. I've been unwilling to scratch them off, in an excersise of completely magical thinking I feel certain that choosing the right moment may be propitious to the outcome. Perhaps tonight
31 days -
3 Windham NY (racing)
1 Whitetail
11 Roundtop (racing)
16 Liberty
Avg year for me. 20-year avg is 28 times a year.
2 at Blue Knob
2 at Wisp
4 more than last season.

yeah let us know!
Day 17 today; Sierra at Tahoe. 6” of wet heavy powder over old icy moguls. It was at my limit at first. Then I decided to just make 4 good turns at a time, then repeat. After a while I figured it out and stretched that to 6, 10, and more. Tough but fun. Then it became warm and sunny and turned to sticky glop by 11:00 so I called it a day. Powder days in the Sierra are often like that.

And what constitutes a "ski day" ? based on my instacrack pics, opening day was november 16th, and closing day was april 9th ... when ramble at canaan was no longer a top to bottom run :) what happened in between is a blur, but the only decent powder day all season that was actually over 3-4" was on the friday before groundhogs day and was 8". Good bye cruel winter!
I had a great season. Just got back from Alta last weekend. Only a few days at Massanutten in early January, mostly because I was out west during both holiday weekends. I explored New England (mid-Dec, early March) a bit more before picking up my daughter for school breaks from her school near Boston. Did two longer trips out west, plus a couple of Taos Ski Weeks. The bonus was getting at least one deep powder day at Taos, Targhee, Bridger, Big Sky, and Alta. Starting to feel like I have enough powder experience to really enjoy a big powder storm when I'm lucky enough to catch one.
The Ikon pass influenced where I went in the northeast.
Mid-Atlantic: 4
Northeast: 16
Out west: 42
* - first time
Northeast in Nov-Dec: Killington-1, Wachusett-3, Loon-1, Wildcat & Attitash*-1 (same day), Bretton Woods*-1, Sunday River-3, Waterville Valley*-2, Stratton*-1, Tenney-1, Cannon*-1, Sunapee-1
Taos Ski Valley: mid-Jan Ski Week, first week of Feb Ski Week
Ski safari starting in SLC in late Feb: Targhee-2, Bridger-3, Big Sky-6
Utah in April: Deer Valley*-1, Solitude-1, Alta/Snowbird-2, Alta-14
Quite a season...we are all jealous!!!
Marzski, what were your impressions of Wildcat and Cannon -- I loved both of them but I was there after a good storm with everything open.
Wildcat in particular was quentessential old school.

I like Wildcat. Had been before in early Dec but this time a few more trails were open since I went mid-Dec. But I would never go except in good conditions. Meaning not too much wind and decent visibility. I imagine that after a classic northeast rain/freeze cycle, Wildcat would be far to "exciting" for me.
Cannon is a northeast classic. I tried to go in mid-Dec but temps were going to be single digits and the summit lift was on windhold. No thanks! In early March I got a grand tour from a local. But we stayed out of the woods since the snow was pretty much dust on crust. I'm too spoiled by trips out west to want to work that hard.
In short, glad I have experienced the "old school" vibe at Wildcat and Cannon. But not likely to make an effort to return.
If I'm ever in the Boston area and can get up to Tenney for a day trip, I'd go even on a weekend. Truly old school with two slow fixed grip lifts and mostly natural snow. Narrow and twisty trails, short tree runs, and the full support of the local community. Plus can stop in Plymouth for Soup & Scoop at M&M downtown. That means a wonderful bowl of homemade soup plus a big helping of homemade ice cream for about $10. :-)
43 days for me. 23 days coaching at Liberty and Gunstock NH., 5 days Sugarbush.2 days Mt Snow, 3 days Stratton, and 1 day at Bryce. Out west 2 days DV, 2 days Snow Basin,1 day PC, 1 day Pow Mo (with afoot of powder!), 2 days Sundance, and 1 day ski touring. Sundance was great and $30 a day for us old folks.
18 for me: 4 days Snowmass, 2 days Aspen Highlands, 6 days Jackson, and 6 at Mammoth. Great days of pow at each place. The dogs and I took one snowboard run at TLine before they opened, but we're not counting that.
Amazing season of wide travels by marzNC! I saw her attack cut-up foot deep leftover snow in April on Ballroom at Alta and she skied it beautifully. I thought I got some better photos, but this will have to do:
Found some better photos of MarzNC skiing some heavy cut up snow in Ballroom at Alta on 4/17/19. She attacked this stuff very nicely!
Friend Bill in Catherine's at Alta:
How does one post pictures? I've never consistently figured it out , occasionally by accident it works.
I had some great days in powder in trees both out west and in the NE this year
First you must already have uploaded your pictures to a photo hosting site or Facebook. I post on Pugski.com you can upload pictures to that site. Now, in the comment box here you see a tool bar at the top of the box, in the top line between the flag and the grid icon you see a square with a dot in the left corner and two "peaks" below. Click on that. There will be a pop up that ask for the URL. The URL is actually the web address where your picture is hosted. How do you find your photos URL? the easiest way for me is to go to the site that has your picture, right click on the pic and look for copy link address, click that, go back to DCSki and your comment box and right click on URL and add the address then click OK. It's easier than it sounds.
Hmm, that doesn't seem to be working. I just tried to link a photo from PugSki.
Or you can right click on a picture, look for copy image, click that. Come back to DCSki and your comment box hold down the ctrl key right click in your comment box and click on paste from the menu that appears. Here's an image I lifted from the Support Laurel Mountain Facebook group using that method:

Here's how I do it.
I post a photo on Facebook, open the post, right click on the photo and copy the image address (url). Works the same on other photo platforms, you just need the image address (url).
See photo below.
1 - click the image icon RED ARROW and the image properties pop up displays
2 - paste the image address url (GREEN ARROW)
3 - (optional) adjust the image size (BLUE ARROW)
4 - click the OK button (ORANGE ARROW)
5 - NOW YOU MUST POST THOSE POW PICS
Let's see if this works . . . the drift at Alta between the top of the Sugarloaf lift and the Collins Return cat track, taken the second week of April. Part of a trip report on a ski forum based on Xenforo software (not Pugski). Had to re-size to 640 wide.
Fresh tracks off Wildcat after the 50-inch 3-day snowstorm, taken the morning of April 13, 2019

Thanks for the pics! Think I still have work to do on improving technique now that we are doing an annual Taos Ski Week. He's getting far smoother and faster as he approaches 70. That much harder to keep up. :-)
This April was the first time I got first tracks on Ballroom going non-stop, full speed. Got lucky on reaching to the top of Collins just after the rope drop. Went back for a second run. That's the advantage of catching a late season storm. Although the line looks long, only took 10-15 to clear. By the time I got back, there wasn't a line past the gate at all.
Days skiing. Used to post all the time on here but havent so much lately. I did 83 this year. Most at mid-atlantic but a nice excursion to Panoramma and Kicking Horse in BC added the vert and gravity we lack at the local hills. Does my planned Chili trip in August count on this or next year?
At Squaw now. Just arrived. Tomorrow will be day 25. After starting in February after the 2nd knee replacement on November 28, I’ve been getting after it. I’ll be here for squaw’s ”˜freedom fest’ over July 4th. Mammoth will be open into August and it raises the possibility of a 12 month year, which I did once before. September is the toughest. However, now that I live on the west coast hood is not that far. They are closed in September for maintenance work but I can climb. October could be Hood again or an early snow at Tahoe.

Friends who have done the 12 month thing tell me that the ski year begins on September 1 and ends on August 31. Southern Hemisphere adds an interesting twist I hadn’t thought about. In any case have fun!

The one time I skied every month of the year was a bad snow year. July, August and September were notched at Hood. I skied the last day of July and the first day of August.Labor Day weekend was back at Hood. October was notched at Keystone when it still was competing for the first to open prize.
Hood is open thru Labor Day, so you should be able to notch Spetember threre. Something will be open in Summit County before end of October, A-Basin, Loveland, and now Keystone again since Vail announced it will be opening Keystone in October again and competing to be the first to oen.

I always considered the 12 months to be from October 1 to September 30. Rationale: sking new snow vs. old snow.
The one year I did 12 months I started in October and then blew up a wrist snowboarding on November 11. My MD said no snow sports til April. I kept badgering him until he finally said "OK, just don't fall on it" .So my one year started on 1/23 at Roundtop and finished on 12/16 at Taos.

Good point. September is the toughest month. But, believe it or not, I once skied in late September at Whitegrass. Don’t recall the year but I’ll guess ~2005. It was 8” of heavy wet snow and the leaves were not down yet, so many heavily weighted tree branches were broken and downed on the road making it tough to get there. At one point on 32, S of Canaan, I had to drive 1/2 mile on the wrong side of the road, hoping that no tractor trailers were coming in the other direction. Got there safely, skied up to Bald Knob with Chip and others and skied down to Springer orchard and down to WG. The gate in the barbed wire fence that is open in winter was closed because it wasn’t winter. It’s the only time I ever skied when someone had to go down and open a gate in a barbed wire fence so the rest of the skiers could go thru! 😮
Great story Denis!
