I know it's not near DC, but for anyone in NC the Cataloochee Ski Swap is Dec. 7-8, 2019. The App Pre-Season Sale and Swap runs Oct. 11-20.

I wish there was one in the Triangle or the Triad. App is the closest to me and it's still 3 hours away.

Wintergreen usually has a swap the Friday after Thanksgiving. Haven't ever gone but I think it benefits the Wintergreen Ski Patrol. I might be up for carpooling from the Triangle this year. First time in a while that I'll be home Thanksgiving week because my daughter is in college at UNC Asheville instead of a boarding school somewhere up in New England.

Alpine Ski Shop in Sterling Virginia and Timberline Ski Patrol are hosting the first of two weekend ski swap on October 5 and 6. The Sterling store will accept gear at the Sterling store starting Monday September 30. Since 2014 this swap has grown to become the largest swap in the DC area.

Just because Timberline Resort may not open this year, the ski patrol is well and active with helping other resorts and maintaining our training requirements.
Found info about the Baltimore Ski & Snowboard Swap on Nov. 2, 8am-2pm, at the Ruhl National Guard Armory. There is a website but it has the dates from 2018.

We have few local ski swaps coming.( next week is Sun and ski annual sale in falls church Question: how much would pre-owned skis cost? What is the price range?
I am looking for a pair of skis for my nephew. Shop recommended $500 Dynastar Legend 80 mm underfoot, 159 in length.
Would i be label to find it something equivalent to the spec? If is, what would be the price range for pre-owned ski If it is close to $400, i'd rather pay for the new one
Thoughts?

Based upon many years of attending local pre-season sales, people in the DC metro overprice their used equipment by a lot, perhaps 50%. As the sale season goes on reality sets in and when they fail to sell week after week, you’ll see their prices drop. The supply will drop too. Consider ugly ducklings, scratched topskins don’t matter; you ski on the bottoms. Base damage matters if it goes to an edge, or to the core. Lesser scratches don’t matter.

BIG SWAPS are TOWSON, BETHESDA, GAITHERSBURG A swap is only a s good as the gear people bring in.
One favortie used ski of mine was 100$ used for SL and the top sheet was beat. Expoxy, paint, now a nice ski for the rocks and ealry late season.
Apparently there is a ski swap at Masthope Mountain in Lackawaxen, PA on Nov. 23-24. That's the location for Big Bear at Masthope Mountain (not Jack Frost/Big Bear that's now owned by Vail Resorts).
The Willi's Ski Shop/Mon Valley swap is Saturday, Nov. 9 at Seven Springs. That is also Ski Club Weekend also screening Warren Miller's "Timeless".
