Perhaps taking the cue from the Snowshoe 3-day pass, there are three 3-day passes for Steamboat on sale right now.  Opening day is Nov. 23, 2019.  I'm headed to Steamboat with a friend who doesn't have Ikon, and the Mid-Winter timing works for him.  Otherwise the advanced purchase 3-day price is over $400.

Early Season 3-day, $169, buy before Oct. 31, good Nov. 23 thru Dec. 20

Mid-Winter 3-day, $199, buy before Nov. 22, good Jan. 13 thru Feb. 17

Spring 3-day, $149, good April 1-12

Winters out west of late have been heavily (deeply?) backloaded, that spring pass would be a great deal.  How long is this being offered?

My impression is that the Spring 3-day will still be offered in March.  Pretty sure that you have to buy before April 1.  What's surprising is that the info is on the Steamboat website already.  Usually spring deals don't get announced until early March, and then only if the late season is going to be tough because of low snow levels.

With VR and Alterra as direct competitors, it's clearly changing the game for early and late season in order to get more people to commit their dollars to Epic or Ikon or anything else that can be bought before the winter weather is known.  The 3-day passes and Epic Day Pass seem to be ways to reach people who aren't the type to take a 1-week ski vacation at one destination resort.

The deal for Mid-Winter changed a bit.  Deadline to buy at $199 is Oct. 17.  But will be available thru Jan. 12 at a higher price.  Ikon prices go up on Oct. 17, so perhaps that's one reason for the shift.
